A Home shaped by Nature, Form and Detail. Four years in planning and construction, R32 is more than a residence built from the ground up, it is a living space that has evolved alongside a growing family. Located in Mont Kiara, the house explores the connection between natural elements and daily life through material, form, and spatial layout, extending from the architectural exterior down to the finest interior details. The building’s facade features curved concrete volumes paired with dark timber finishes, softening the conventional right angles of traditional architecture to present a more fluid silhouette. Stepping inside, full height expansive glazing frames the surrounding garden views, seamlessly weaving natural greenery into daily routines; meanwhile, the sheer textures and dark draping lines of the bespoke living room curtains introduce a delicate spatial transition against the minimalist white walls. A central curved staircase anchors the vertical circulation, acting as a key visual link across levels. From the circular canopy opening of the porch and the sweeping exterior lines to the curved viewing window of the custom elevator, recurring curves weave through varying scales, establishing a cohesive design language throughout the home.
The selection and application of materials form the textural backbone of R32. The design team integrated natural marble, timber, micro cement, and diverse surface textures across different zones, establishing a warm and rich visual hierarchy through the inherent hues, grains, and tactility of each material. Marble extends beyond walls and countertops to the flooring, creating a continuous visual relationship across spaces. In contrast to the muted calmness of natural materials, the kitchen and workspace introduce bolder chromatic accents, such as red switch plates, red cabinet doors, red and yellow faucets, and strategically placed sockets infusing the areas with lively visual contrast. Rather than acting as mere decoration, these localized color touches allow each zone to retain its unique personality while sustaining the overarching material palette.

Beyond materials and color, the design vocabulary extends seamlessly into furniture, hardware, and everyday details. Inspired by curves and waves, this motif flows from the staircase profile to metal bathroom rails, walk in closet hanging rods, and custom cabinet pulls, allowing a single design element to manifest in diverse forms. Other bespoke solutions prioritize the integration of form and utility, such as a visual composition of jagged geometric timber columns paired with continuous circular apertures, a custom dressing table designed to tuck its stool entirely beneath the top, and a recessed, hidden perfume display unit embedded within the master wardrobe, precisely housing everyday collections within a minimalist facade. The elevator system is equally custom designed, from its curved window panels and arrival indicator lights to the tactile metal control buttons, every detail echoes the overarching spatial language, endowing vertical transit with a distinct sculptural identity. Lighting elements transcend single functions, with custom wall sconces bridging the indoor and exterior walls, and kitchen extractor hoods cladded in the same surface tiles as the surrounding wall, unifying equipment into a cohesive material surface. Furthermore, the monolithic marble kitchen sink translates a utilitarian fixture into a sculptural focal point through its robust volume and crisp mitered lines. In a powder room, the design team broke convention by introducing a ceiling mounted vertical faucet paired with independent deck mounted controls and geometric tiles, transforming a standard plumbing fixture into a striking linear installation.
Different living zones are tailored to their specific programmatic needs. The multi purpose office features diverse materials paired with a multi toned wood conference table, establishing a clear visual focus; the walk-in closet is anchored by green accents, specialized wood veneers, and layered lighting to create an intimate, boutique like ambiance. The guest bathroom utilizes an angled mirror extension and under cabinet lighting to enhance spatial depth. Further elevating material and light interplay, the wellness and sauna zone juxtaposes raw aggregate walls with translucent concrete blocks, allowing soft, diffused daylight to filter through and cast delicate shadows. A gradient tinted mirror at the vanity echoes the fluidity of water, while a custom marble water spout and floating basin corner installation bring the soothing sound of trickling water into daily life. From macro spatial planning to micro custom details, R32 articulates the harmonious interplay between material, form, and human habitation, ensuring that every detail forms an intrinsic part of the living experience.
