Tucked within the city’s fabric, this modest condominium has been transformed into a nurturing sanctuary — a home that comforts, supports, and adapts to the rhythms of its unique family. Designed for twin sisters raising their young daughter, Margo, the space reflects a quiet strength and deep sense of togetherness, offering both refuge and room to grow.

Originally a cramped and disconnected layout, the home’s core spaces were compartmentalized and dimly lit — especially the narrow kitchen. In response, the walls that once divided the kitchen, dining, and living areas were removed to create a fluid, open-plan space. This move not only invites in light but also encourages shared moments, where cooking, playing, and unwinding happen side by side.

A structural column in the center — once a limitation — is now embraced as a design feature. It anchors the kitchen and dining zone, reimagined as a lighting focal point that casts a warm glow across the heart of the home. Just beyond, the dining area becomes a visual and emotional highlight: bathed in a gentle, dusty blue, it stands in contrast to the surrounding palette of earthy tones and warm timber textures. This moment of color acts as both a grounding and uplifting gesture — a place for gathering, storytelling, and connection.

Throughout the space, materials have been chosen for their honesty and tactility. Plywood edges are left raw and exposed, revealing their layered construction as a quiet metaphor for the family itself: strong, grounded, and beautifully imperfect. There’s no need for flashy finishes here — every surface feels lived-in, loved, and intentional.

What was once chaotic has now become calm. The new layout offers flow and ease, while the details tell a story of resilience, intention, and care. This is a home that doesn’t shout for attention, but instead whispers a sense of peace — proof that good design isn’t always about making a statement. Sometimes, it’s simply about making space for love to live well.
